WHAT WE LOVE

Logan Mercantile offers eco-friendly, timeless, and functional everyday goods. Established in 2021 by Kitty Izzo who has selected a range of quality products from the USA, Japan, Italy, France, Scandinavia, and the UK that are expertly crafted and have withstood the test of time. The collection of wares are beautifully displayed in an airy, light space with white-painted brick and tin ceiling in in the heart of Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.

"Our merchants have been crafting their wares for decades — if not centuries. Each made by an expert artisan, our goods are designed to be proudly displayed in the home & passed generation to generation."

ABOUT THE SHOP

What year was Logan Mercantile established? 2021

What makes Logan Mercantile so unique? We stock a range of high quality, sustainable, everyday essentials for the home and life. Well-made goods that are built to last and difficult to find.

Why do customers love Logan Mercantile? We are located in one of Chicago’s most treasured neighborhoods, Logan Square, home to some of the city's best restaurants and nightlife. The store is located in a beautiful, century-old building with a unique, reclaimed tin ceiling, original hardwood floors and a garden atrium anchoring the shop.

What are Logan Mercantile's best-selling, must-have products? Natural cleaning supplies, natural handmade brushes and brooms, natural rubber hot water bottles, terra cotta garden pots.

ABOUT THE SHOPKEEPER

What inspired you to open Logan Mercantile? Reminiscent of European artisanal shops that I didn’t feel were represented anywhere else in the Chicago, or much of the country. I was personally tired of the limited options in everyday household essentials available from Target and the like. Heavy plastics and synthetic materials with no other options around. I wanted to offer ordinary items that were well made and beautiful. To encourage people to move away from disposable materials and invest in items that will likely last a lifetime.

What did you do before opening Logan Mercantile? I own a restaurant (located next door to the shop) called Park and Field.

What are your favorite local businesses?
