WHAT WE LOVE: La Maison n° 74 is an authentic Ibicenco finca, or farmhouse, that features the brand’s, Numero 74, homewares. The rooms of the finca flow as they would in a comfortable home, except here all the wares are for sale. Featured are handmade decorative homewares and furniture from Thailand, Spain, and Portugal.
WHO: French national Tara Sfez who was inspired by the wonderful Thai artisans and their handcrafts that she encountered on vacation in Thailand. After establishing her brand, Numero 74, she opened L’Atelier n° 74 in 2019 followed by La Maison n° 74 in the spring of 2022.
WHERE: A renovated finca, a few minutes walk from sister store L’Atelier n° 74. Located in the charming town of Santa Gertrudis, on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

THE SHOP
When was La Maison n° 74 established? L’Atelier n° 74 opened on 21st of June 2019 and n°74 the mother brand was established in 2009.
What makes La Maison n° 74 so unique? I think we are all unique, what we know guide us: the freedom to not follow any trend, just create based on our need, our vision of life.
But more important is the way we produce, at home by women in Thailand or by our wonderful tribe of female knitters in Ibiza.
I believe the love, the presence, the attention that each artisan puts into their work is a gift for all, and I think this is what make our place unique: “made by unique people, in their unique way”.
Is there a story behind n° 74’s name? Oh yes… Since I was very young I have had a love numbers, my father is a mathematics teacher, so when my friend and I were looking for a name for our new company I had the idea to add her age and my age and at this moment the result was 74.
But since then this number pops up very often. I just discovered that the house in Ibiza that I live in was built in 74…

What is the highlight of having your shop? Having our own place let’s us really have the freedom to create what we want, when we want, and present it to our customers, in our very own specific way. We have a lot of different products for Home, Fashion, Baby & Kids, Outdoor…only in our own shops can we present it all.
This is why two months ago we opened “La Maison n°74” next door to L’atelier n°74… we needed more space, so we found a very old finca and we just made it a home again.
What inspires you? Inspiration is a real mystery for me, I don’t know where it comes from, I just know it happens to me mainly between 5 and 8 am, when I am not really awake and not sleeping neither, probably just coming out of a dream. I begin to visualize, ideas, concepts, products, houses…what ever it is all about creation. To me it comes from above, we just channel it and we put it into matter. I believe it’s our role as humans: TO CREATE
What are your favorite shops or markets? Definitely Sunday Night Market in Chiang Mai where I live, I’ve been going there for 20 years and every time I go I discover new things, new artists, new food…
I am in love since a very young age with Les Puces, flea market in Paris. When I was lived there was going regularly on Saturday morning to shop some kids chairs, old toys…this is how my passion begun. I collected kids design furniture, it was a never ending story, first one chair, then two chairs…74 chairs !!!!

ON THE FUTURE OF RETAIL
