Emillie Ferris has an Etsy shop selling whimsical nature inspired embroideries. Established in June 2015, the shop sells British wildlife embroidered hoops and custom pet portraits. All the embroideries are hand stitched by Emillie at her parent’s home in Suffolk, UK, who enjoys the freedom of having an online shop.
Emillie Ferris, a graphic designer, is a self-taught embroiderer. She fell in love with embroidery after receiving a kit from her boyfriend two years ago. Her first project was a cross-stitch embroidery of a dream catcher, which was followed by her first butterfly. Inspired by the Instagram community of makers, that were selling what they love to do on Etsy, Emillie decided to open her own Etsy shop. She now ships and receives custom orders from around the globe. Some of her favourite Instagram accounts are @meadowandfawn @lamblittle @coralandtusk and @yumikohiguchi. Emillie would love to embroider some pretty dresses, and would like collaborate with other artists who could sew the garments on such a project. She also likes the idea of having a stall once or twice a year.
On the Future of Retail
“That virtual is going to be the way to go! Everyone is looking for really unique purchases, it’s so easy to go purchase items on Amazon and eBay now, that people will be looking for individual niche shops instead.”
