DACHA

dacha-10

DACHA is a home and lifestyle shop in Manhattan Beach, California. A Russian word, “dacha”, encapsulates the beauty and leisure of a country retreat. DACHA has recreated this aesthetic to reflect a casual Southern California sensibility. There is a mix of new and vintage globally sourced furniture, lighting, textiles and gifts. Textiles from Argentina and Mexico; baskets and vessels from Africa and Asia; candles from France; and locally sourced products from California based artists and designers. A big part of DACHA’s culture is “bringing the outside in”, and there is a generous assortment of unusual green plants displayed, and for sale, throughout the space.

The Shopkeeper

Lauren J Alexander grew up in her mother’s flower shop in Marin County. From the early age of five she would help sweep and moss plants, and would be taken on assignments. Lauren was fascinated as she witnessed artists, designers and stagers transform rooms in hotels, clients homes and showcase houses. She learnt the value of making a space beautiful, festive and inviting. Lauren’s career has included event production and floral design, as well as manager of Bergdorf Goodman’s Decorative Home department in New York and director of Kelly Wearstler’s flagship boutique in West Hollywood. Lauren loved growing up in a small business environment and always intended to open her own shop. She successfully combined her influences and experiences along with her Russian heritage to create DACHA. Lauren loves being in the shop, interacting with clients, and meeting new people every day.

On Customer Service

“At Bergdorf’s I learned what true luxury is and the importance of setting the highest standard for every detail of a client’s experience, from service to product selection to giftwrapping.”
